DOLE REGION 10 APPROVES WAGE HIKE FOR NORMIN WORKERS

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 10, through its Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), have issued Wage Order RX-16, which mandates business firms to pay an addition P17 cost of living allowance (COLA) to employees entitled to minimum wage in Region 10.

The wage order covers workers four categories, namely Wage Category I: Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Tagoloan, Villanueva and Jasaan.  Wage Category II: Malaybalay, Valencia, Gingoog, El Salvador, and Ozamis.  Wage Category III: Oroquieta, Tangub, Lugait, Opol, Mambajao. Wage Category IV: municipalities not mentioned above.

For Wage Category I, workers wages is pegged at P286 and P274, for non-agriculture and agriculture employees, respectively.  For Wage Category II, workers wages is pegged at P281 and P269, for non-agriculture and agriculture employees, respectively.   For Wage Category III, workers wages is pegged at P276 and P264, for non-agriculture and agriculture employees, respectively.   For Wage Category IV, workers wages is pegged at P271 and P259, for non-agriculture and agriculture employees, respectively.

As far as those employed under the sugar sector, they will be receiving an minimum wage of P259, beginning February 17, 2011.  Exclusions of the wage order includes those workers employed as Kasambahay and employees working in Barangay Micro Business Enterprises, that was employed after the wage order takes effect.
